Is this a daycare?Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center is a leading high-quality early care and education agency. Our classrooms are led by licensed teachers and paraprofessional assistants. We use a research-based curriculum and on-going assessment system to ensure our children meet or exceed the benchmark expectations for Kindergarten Readiness. Families are required to complete an Attendance Contract as part of our orientation process.

At what age can I enroll my child(ren)?To enroll in our Early Head Start Program a child must be at least six weeks old and not older than two years and ten months. To enroll in our Pre-K Program a child must be three or four years old by October 1st of the enrolling year.

What documents do I need to enroll my child?To register your child, you need to submit a completed Enrollment Application with the following documentation: Child Birth Certificate Child Immunization Records Parent/Guardian ID 3) Proofs of Address (within the last 30 days) Current Proof of Income *For the Universal (Free) Pre-K Program, you must be a Newark resident. What is the Early Head Start Program?Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center, Inc. is a Head Start grantee, providing comprehensive services for children from birth to three years old. Families must meet the income eligibility guidelines and reside or work in the service area (07108, 07112, 07114) to enroll. Selection for enrollment is based on need. The FREE program is available September - June. Extended day and summer child care hours are available for a fee.

What is the Universal (Free) Pre-K Program?Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center, Inc. is contracted by the Newark Board of Education to provide FREE state-mandated preschool education services. Children must be ​a resident of Newark and be three or four years old by October 1st of the enrolling school year to enroll. The FREE program is available September - June. Extended day and summer child care hours are available for a fee.

What are the program hours?Early Head Start: 8:30am - 3:30pm. Extended hours: 7:30am - 5:30pm Pre-K Program: 8:20am - 2:50pm. Extended hours: 7:30am - 5:30pm Summer Hours (beginning July 1, ending August 31): 8:15am - 4:00pm

Do I have to provide meals for my child?Breakfast, lunch and snack are provided at no additional cost. If your child has special dietary needs please be sure to include that on the enrollment application. We can accommodate most dietary requests.
