Diverse Learning Environments
Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center, Inc. offers Early Head Start and FREE Preschool Program services, in addition to full-day summer enrichment programs for children ages 3 - 12. Our goal is to provide children with a fun and stimulating learning environment supplemented with a nutritious breakfast and lunch programs, as well as various daily physical activities.
Early Head Start (0-3)
Early Head Start is a federally funded program that provides family-centered services designed to promote the development of young children and enable their families to fulfill their roles as primary caregivers and move toward self-sufficiency.
Children and families enrolled in EHS receive services that promote the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of infants and toddlers through safe and developmentally enriching caregiving, while also supporting and meeting the needs of expecting moms and families.
Clinton Hill Early Head Start operates as a full-day, full-year program in both center-based and residential settings. Families requiring extended-day and summer child care hours must obtain a child care subsidy agreement.
Preschool/Pre-K (3-5)
The Pre-K program (formerly known as Abbott) is state-funded and administered by the Newark Board of Education. Children must be three or four years old by October 1st of the enrolling school year and live in Newark to be eligible for enrollment.
Pre-K is a Kindergarten preparatory program designed to make sure all children are “school ready” by program’s end. The Pre-K program runs on a school-year calendar. Families requiring extended-day and summer child care hours must obtain a child care subsidy agreement.
School-Age Child Care
The School-Age Child Care program is an out-of-school time academic and enrichment program for children in grades Kindergarten through Fifth.
The program also focuses on building social-emotional skills in the following competencies: healthy peer and adult relationships; emotion-management (regulation); and empathy & kindness. This holistic approach allows us to support children’s growth and development while tapping into their natural interests and excitement.
The program runs in the evening during the school year, and full day during the summer months and certain school closure days.
Home-Based Care
Home-based care or residential childcare is the preferred option of care for families who require non-traditional care hours or want their children to be educated in a small setting. Providers are extensively trained in developmentally appropriate practices and differentiating for children in mixed-aged groups. Programs are required to meet high-quality benchmark standards and ready children for Kindergarten entry.
The Clinton Hill Family Childcare Network offers family childcare programs the opportunity to engage in ongoing high-quality professional development, connect, and grow their program presence in a community. Our network is made up of dedicated childcare professionals providing high-quality care within their residences. To learn more about the network, click here
