Early Head Start (0-3)

Prekindergarten program

Pre-Kindergarten (3-5)

Funding and Administration

The Abbott Program is state-funded, ensuring that resources are directed toward enhancing early childhood education in underserved communities.
It is administered by the local school districts, which are responsible for implementing the program and maintaining standards.

Age and Enrollment

The program serves children three to four years old, preparing them for a smooth transition into kindergarten.
Enrollment eligibility requires that children reside in designated Abbott Districts, which encompass various urban areas across the state.

Curriculum and Objectives

The program emphasizes a developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters social, emotional, and academic growth.
Goals include ensuring that all participants are “school ready,” equipped with essential skills such as cognitive abilities, language development, and social interactions.

Additional Services

School-age programs

School-Age Child Care

The School-Age Child Care program is designed to provide a stimulating academic environment for children ages 6 through 12 during post-school day hours.

Beyond academic support, the program prioritizes the cultivation of social-emotional skills. It focuses on essential competencies, including building healthy relationships with both peers and adults, mastering emotion regulation, and promoting empathy and kindness.

The program is available in the evenings during the school year and offers full-day care during summer sessions and on specific days when school is closed.
